I'm pretty much in agreement until the last suggestion -- if you're
going to continue playing, do so at your standard bet. If you want to
keep on playing, KEEP ON playing with gusto.

A personal anecdote: On the one occasion in which I hit 3 single line
RF's in a day, I had gone to bed after hitting twice earlier that
afternoon. I was restless and decided to give the machines one last
hour for the heck of it.

But, I wasn't interested in incurring much of a session loss in
finishing out the day (and trip), so I cut my denom in half. Of
course, I hit again after just 20 min.

It was a thrilling moment ... but, in hindsight, I still hear a voice
in my head calling, "PUSSY!" (If that raises objection, read it as
"fraidy-cat". ;) (... at the risk of further objection, I'll assure
you the voice wasn't feminine)

- H.

(PS - I recognize that had I changed any action, it's unlikely I would
have hit the 3rd time ... also possible I'd have hit 3x more)

Two weeks ago (after mention here) I intimated that they were likely
set on toast, even without suggestion of a multiplier. I give them no
more than another couple of weeks now.

[vpFREE] Re: XVP - Cosmopolitan Resort Casino Developer Defaults On Loan

The recession will happen if and only if everybody remains convinced
that there will be a recession.

Think about it. The US economy is as fundamentally sound as ever.
Unemployment is low, inflation is low, productivity is high. The
intrinsic elements that make the US economy powerful still exist.
This despite the naysayers and pundits, who, it should be noted,
have been wrong before.

The mortgage "crisis" is anything but that. Not for the people who
have been sitting on the sidelines with cash in their hands, waiting
to jump back in. Not for the banks, who actually make LOTS of money
on the foreclosures (the terms of those loans ENSURE that this will
be the outcome), not to mention freeing up funds originally lent at
ultra-low interest rates. When someone loses, someone else MUST
gain. It's axiomatic.

The weak dollar? Well, hooray, if you're an exporter. Your goods are
now more competitive. And the trade deficit--the subject of so much
hand-wringing--grows smaller with the "weak" dollar.

So much of the economy is based on confidence and perceptions--down
to and including the worth of a dollar, which is called "fiat"
currency, meaning it has no intrinsic value. The people scaring
everyone are the pundits and politicians who stand to profit from
causing a panic--most notably, the Demos who THRIVE on trouble and
fear, especially in this election year when they want to consolidate
their power by taking over the one remaining branch of the US
government that they do not control--the executive branch.

RE: [vpFREE] (Fwd) Station Casinos Free Play for Points

A private email to vpfae reported: Starting February 14th, Boarding Pass
points can be converted in to slot/vp free play at the rate of 1000
points = $1.

I have no specific knowledge of this promotion --- but it is very
unlikely that it is open-ended. They limit the points you can use for
travel to $3,000 or $4,000 a year. I would suspect a similar limit on
this promotion. There are several Chairman players with balances
sufficient to qualify for $20,000 or more in cash because Station points
in quantity are largely unusable. Allowing players to cash in otherwise
unusable points is very un-Station-like.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Free Play

Harry wrote: I'll argue the cash back is marginally advantageous over
Free Play.

I disagree. While the arguments Harry presented are valid, there are
reasons to prefer Free Play, and to me, these reasons make free play the
preferred method receiving casino cash --- at least for me. One such
reason for me is that Shirley or I can pick up free play for both of us.
This division of labor means that we both don't have to go to each place
where we get free play. Even for unmarried folks, sometimes you are out
of town when you can collect the free play. Having a friend do it is
possible with free play and not with cash back.

It's rare that you can pick up someone else's cash back, although at
Ellis Island (before we outroyaled our welcome), a $2 tip each time
would allow either one of us to cash both $30 every-three-days vouchers.

Another reason to prefer free play is convenience --- especially not
having to stand in a line. Trying to cash anything at a cage on a Friday
afternoon at a casino with a paycheck promotion is a time-consuming
process. Playing at a machine and then using a ticket-cashing kiosk is
much faster.

But as Harry noted, you don't really get a choice. If you patronize a
particular casino, you have to follow whatever procedures they have in
place.

There are folks who prefer the "guarantee" of cash back versus the
uncertain results of free play. For me this is a non-issue. I'm going to
be playing at that casino anyway. What difference does it make whether
you get guaranteed cash and put it into the machine to gamble, or get
free play?

It probably depends on what you consider playable, but
all of the better games that members have chosen to
share are listed in the DataBase.

I recently changed my e-mail address for the Palms and I haven't
heard one iota from them. I guess I'll have to go back to my old
address. Thanx for the input.

[vpFREE] Kelly Bankroll, 25cent NSUD 3-play

My girlfriend and I enjoy playing 25 cent 3-play NSU, which is the best
available to us here in San Diego that I know of. My question is how
much should we set aside for this? We typically split the bankroll and
play separately, in sessions. We are trying to identify an amount to
allocate for 2008 gaming. We also earn 0.5% cashback, $2.00=1 point.
Thanks!

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Free Play and Won Loss Statements

<<I know of no casino that includes player cash incentives in it's
win/loss statement -- be it free play, cashback, cash bonuses, etc.

Win/Loss statements typically track only the result of wagers at the
machine. (I expect that wagers during the play off of Free Play
credits is excluded.)>>

MGM-Mirage properties and Wynn count the coin-out received from playing off
free play, but they do not count the free play as coin in. You could look at
it as adding the amount of free play to your win/loss statement and then
adjusting it by your win/loss on the free play. Or you could look at it as
simply adding the total coin out from the free play to your win/loss
statement.
