Re: [vpFREE] Jean Scott's Frugal Vegas LVA BLOG - 29 JUL 2012

Is money left in a machine legally the same as a cashout ticket on the
floor? Maybe the act of cashing out the ticket from the machine makes it a
crime, if it indeed is one.

I was told that keeping found money is not a crime. Can anyone cite

the statute that supports this?

In that case it would unquestionably belong to the player.
A smart hustler will always do this.

As to the casino's contention that found money = stealing, sounds like the usual amusing theories espoused by employees with more imagination than legal training. If it were up to management, any form of leaving the house with more than you came in with would be a crime.

I've heard these theories for years.
What I ain't heard yet is the voice of a casino employee who's passed the bar and is qualified to give legal advice.

[vpFREE] Room choice at Caesar's

I just got home from a trip to LV, stayed for the first time at Caesar's- I
was in the Octavious Tower which I liked very much. I've always heard
before that opened that the best play was the Augustus Tower.
What I did not like, though, is the long walk to the casino and
restaurants, having some arthritis issues. Can anyone tell me if any of the older
towers that are close to the casino floor are worth staying in? I don't want
anything that's really sub par. Thanks so much.

That's correct.

Also take a look at the Wizard of Odds Spin Poker page. He shows the increasing standard deviation as more lines are played. I can attest to this.  http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/tables/spin-poker/

In case you are aiming to play the $1 9/6 JoB Spin Poker at the MGM Grand, I haven't been there for awhile but I think they have both regular Spin Poker (1-9 lines) and Spin Poker Deluxe (1-20 lines). They also have $1 9/6 JoB on 50 play machines. You can play just one line or any number of lines as you wish on these also.

[vpFREE] Re: Reno Sienna $200 loss rebate plus upgraded player status

Thanks for posting this.

For loss rebates some people advocate playing a higher denomination and higher variance game than you normally would. Others are more conservative. Quit when you've reached the loss limit or have a sizeable win.

For example, I believe Harry Porter posted here recently that he played the Riviera $1000 loss rebate on the $1 8/6 Bonus Deluxe and quit when he had a $600 win.

[vpFREE] Re: Reno Sienna $200 loss rebate plus upgraded player status

It's not worth it too much.
I got upgraded to a Double-Diamond and the only real thing I got was a $50 dining credit.
Just this month I recieved a $25 slot play and 2-1 at the steakhouse...not worth it...
From how it happened last time, I still don't trust them to stay open...

I know a person who was charged with petty theft in Colorado for taking $3 out of a poker machine. I've been told by other hustlers that in Mississippi abandoned credits belong to the public, not the casino.

The way to muddy up the situation is: What if the lady had stuck a bill in the machine and played a few hands before cashing out. Then who would the money belong to?

[vpFREE] Re: The Road Goes On Foreverr And The Party Never Ends

UP THE BITTERROOT-I went up the Bitterroot River on Highway 93 to Hamilton, Montana and camped out on the Bitterroot River. The Bitterroot is one of the most scenic valleys in America. The Sapphire Mountains on one side of the valley and the Bitterroot Mountains on the other. I gotta bring a fishing pole next time. Rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout.

I didn't find much in the way of expectation on the machines though I did make a little money. But the most interesting part of the trip was a conversation I had with a bartender in Lolo. She was new to the area. She gave me the name of her hometown and state. After awhile she got around to asking me what I do for a living.

"I don't normally tell strangers what I do for a living. People don't understand it."
"So hurry up and tell me."
"I'm a Nevada machine pro. Do you know what that is?"
"No."
"Gambling machines are my forte."
"Okay. Do you play slot machines?
"Sometimes. I have to have a reason to."
"Okay. No, I believe you. I knew someone."
"You knew a machine pro?"
"Yes, in my hometown we got a casino. He was living in a hotel and going to the casino everyday. He had been there for two months when I left."
"He was playing slot machines?"
"He was playing progressive slot machines, but only at certain times. He got me and my girlfriend to play for him sometimes."

I was thinking Lucky Coin Bonus System.

"Did the progressive meters have a cap. Did the money have to go by a certain number?"
"No."
"Did he have you play as fast as you could?"
"No. He had us make a spin every three seconds. When he won he paid us."

Now I'm thinking Money Time....or something like it.

"Did you have to hit a line pay or did the machine award random bonus amounts occasionally?"
"Yes, that's it. We didn't have to hit anything. The machine would just occasinally award a progressive bonus ."
"No kidding? And the casino is in your hometown?"
"Yes."
"How long ago was this?"
"The first of the year."

I filed the information away for future reference. I might be taking another road trip.

Abandoned credits on machines are a monument to the fallibility of the human brain. No one intentionally leaves credits on a machine and walks away. But it happens hundreds of times a day in Las Vegas.

even sadder to see it neglected. Can you please tell me what
