About hacking a machine:

I assume you mean biasing the RNG. All those payoff tables published at this site and elsewhere are computed on the assumption that the RNG is "flat", at least to within a specified statistical criterion. Meaning: any card is as likely as any other card.

It doesn't take much of an RNG "tilt" to render those tables useless and to enhance the house take.

Questions:

What's the general state of knowledge (or suspicions) about hacked machines? Does the Nevada Gaming Commission have any control over this inside the state? I assume it does.

I have always been wary of video poker machines outside Nevada. Do I have a legitimate concern?

[vpFREE] Re: M-life equivalent of caesars's diamond?

I agree with everything Mark stated below--there is no exact
comparable between TR Diamond and MLife.......however, as a MLife Platinum we regularly receive offers for 2-3 comped nights, $200+ free play and anywhere from $50-$150 in food comps. . . . .we mainly focus on Mirage and MGM Grand however once in awhile NYNY and other properties will send a similar or better offers. We also get offers for almost every headliner & sporting event to include the room, also.  For example--last year we sat in the 10th row to watch Jimmy Buffet.  We've gone to Wine Tasting events, Comedy shows--Brad Garrett's, stayed in gorgeous suites and just got back from a "free" 5 day cruise in an outside stateroom.  (total cost including tips was $300 for both of us--Noir gets free 7 day cruise for 2 people)  We feel that we get more "bang for our buck" so to speak at MLife to the point that this year we're going to cut back our TR play and up the MLife play for both of us. . . . .

There is not a direct equivalent, but the Mlife Gold is similar to the TR Diamond status. You have to get to Platinum before priority valet and taxi access is officially added, although I have received priority access with a Gold card in the past. You can find my take on the tiers at http://tinyurl.com/d9389q3

However, based on your list I'd suggest renewing your Diamond status instead of going to Mlife. Mlife doesn't automatically offer what you want. Their tiered system is fairly new and only offers a few automatic perks.

I just renewed my Diamond status last week with 2 days of 2500+ Tier and bonus tier points. I played triple play BP, hitting 2 lines of AAAA early on and managed to renew Diamond while making some money.

Good Luck!

I didn't stay there, just looked at the casino, but I heard that the rooms have not been renovated. Depending on where your room is located, there could be noise from the construction of the Linq Project right behind the Quad. (That ferris wheel is going to be huge.)

That's the low variance --- low EV way to use the chips. Far better EV wise (with a higher variance) is to use them straight up on single numbers at roulette. Normally they pay you 35-to-1 and here they pay you only 35-for-1 where the true odds are 38-for-1. So the chips are worth 35/38 --- which is about 92%. This is a FAR higher EV than wasting them on a 48% BJ bet.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: First Time Cruising w/ Casino...

Machines in Vegas are very seldomly checked -- not constantly at all.

I have read that gaming machines on cruises operating in international water (I think that is 12 miles off our coast) are not subject to regulation as casino machines are in Vegas, for instance. In Vegas machines are checked constantly to prevent the house from cheating.
