Amazes me how everybody thinks they know what makes a relationship works , and heaven forbid if somebody does it different . Funny,

I ride a motorcycle, and always will. My lady loves it, previous one was telling me i need to slow down or quit, don't remember exactly which as i hit the door running while she was still talking . No regrets .

If you go to their website and click Players Club, you'll see their boast of "voted best players club of 2008 and 2012 by LV Review Journal". That may have been true then, but that endorsement ain't worth squat in 2015. lol

Some casinos do have birthday promotions, but most of them are good for longer than your birthday.

Most gamblers must have the same thoughts as you because those are
pretty much the three best days of the year to gamble in terms of casino
promotions!

I know about the Super Bowl and Christmas. But when is that guy's birthday?

I don't want to miss out on the third best day to gamble!

Most gamblers must have the same thoughts as you because those are pretty much the three best days of the year to gamble in terms of casino promotions! You're missing most of the action by boycotting those days! Fine if you just want to be a convenience gambler, but convenience gambling is much more expensive. It's the equivalent of only buying airlines tickets on the day of travel or walking up to a hotel check in desk and asking them what the rate is for a room that night.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LVA - 24 FEB 2015

I suppose time will tell. The only thing I know for sure is my situation. My wife never gives me flak about my 8 to 12 weeks a year in Vegas or my trips to my local casinos. There are certain days, however when I will not consider going to a casino. Of course I am not a professional gambler, and I can accept the fact that one's job does hold certain responsibilities to that job.

Back in the days when I worked for a living I believe I did my job well, but I wasn't one to put in overtime if it interfered with an event that I was planning. There were many people that I knew that would. They were workaholics.
I guess I would have to classify Bob as a workaholic. I don't really know whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. I just know that it is not my thing.

Everything Bob wrote below makes sense to me. If you're taking the income from gambling seriously, then you have to jump on the good opportunities when they occur. There are simply too few of them to afford passing them up for occasions that can be celebrated as well or almost as well on other dates.

Barry Glazer wrote very well about maintaining a balance. IMO, Bob has clearly done that by having certain events that are inviolable, for which his wife can count on his presence.

A.P. offered advice from someone who's "been married to the same woman for over 40 years"...
My own wife has always understood what being married to a professional gambler entails, and always accepted it good-naturedly. We'll be celebrating our 29th anniversary this summer. Probably on our actual anniversary date.

Yes it will --- but tomorrow will not offer double points! Most of the people who are choosing to trash me over this do not depend on casino winnings for their living / future. I do. And it's tough to come out ahead even taking advantage of point multipliers. I would be a lot tougher without. Many people here are not successful at gambling. I'm sharing one of the "secrets" that help me come out ahead. If you reject it as being too far out of the box for you --- fine. Maybe if you had a $500 EV for playing a particular day, you would think and act differently. It might be a little different if you're a minor player and giving up $5 in EV --- or are still the underdog in the casino even with the point multiplier..

My whole point was that Bonnie and I can celebrate Valentine's day a few days early or a few days later and still have a meaningful relationship. Several responders have concluded that Bonnie was totally ignored because of my wild desire to gamble. She saw the article before any of you did and felt it correctly showed one area in which in we compromise in our marriage --- which we both view as successful. She accepts that $500 in EV means good things for her. She knows I never gamble "just for fun," and whenever I choose to gamble, there's a reason that will probably benefit her. She doesn't understand all the reasons, but she accepts that I'm knowledgeable enough and disciplined enough that I probably have a good one. Most of the time she doesn't feel ignored. And "most of the time" is as good as it gets, for me at least. It's okay with us if some of you don't compromise in the same way.

Several people have emailed me saying they can't get the article. when they try, they get the February 17 article instead. My web people have been told and I suspect that the problem will be fixed soon.

Whenever there is an article about Bonnie, Rob Singer (who definitely lurks here under some other name and still nurses a hatred for all things Dancer), chooses one person who has disagreed with me on the article (in this case AP), and sends this person an email eviscerating me --- while kindly sending me a copy of the evisceration. While this time it was directed to AP, a number of you have gotten such emails from him in the past. Welcome to my world!

[vpFREE] Re: Back-to-back hits

Thanks for the flashback to 2003, nita :) It stands as my most perverse play to date.

At the point I had introduced you to the "best" standing play in AC (the Trump Plaza $1 10/7), I had dumped $17k into it over the prior year (say $21k gross loss, offset by $4k in cb, etc.). Against my better judgement, I was beginning to have doubts about the fairness of that machine. Your triple hit restored my sensibilities and served as a bedrock example of just how volatile vp play can be.

That $18k represented the lion's share of my bankroll allocated to play at the time. Yet, I realized wins out of the 4 other AC casinos I was actively playing that year, for a net winning year overall.

I hope that Harry Porter doesn't mind me sharing this story. Years ago, when I was a newbie VP player, he had clued me in to the lone 10/7 DB at Trump Plaza. While he had put in many hours, and had some good runs, he had yet to hit the RF. I believe that he had been through multiple royal cycles, so this was becoming a bit of a quest.

One evening, I had just started what was planned to be a short session, when a real jerk sat next to me, clearly wanting that machine. He did all that he could to run me off - crowding me, elbowing, lighting a stinky cigar, pounding the machine....

Of course, that put me into "camp out" mode. I settled in and did my best to ignore him. After about 45 minutes, I got my first RF on that machine. The jerk was livid, pounding his machine and stomping around as if I had stolen the royal from him.

As soon as the attendant paid me, and turned to walk off....I hit another royal after just one hand! Mr. Jerk became almost apoplectic, and stormed off in a huff.

Icing on the cake: after another hour, I hit a 3rd RF on that same machine! My only triple-header ever. The next morning, I hit my first $2 RF next door at Caesars....one of my best weekends ever! When I ran into Harry later, I was almost sorry to share my good luck story with him, but of course he was as gracious as could be.

I just received an e-mail from Ellis Island regarding the best of Las Vegas pole and they would really like my vote. Yeah, right....

I guess they now have a strange sense of humor to go along with their new rewards program!
