Okay. It comes down to definition. Yes there are casinos with a few higher paying games. There are some 100% games in town --- where you basically get no benefits if you play them.

I believe that the average hold on video poker games is lower at South Point than anywhere else. I believe the combination of game return + slot club + promotions + mailer is very competitive there. If you're a single line quarter player who plays FPDW with extremely few benefits, you can do better elsewhere. For many other players, South Point is better.

Can you find good deals elsewhere as well? Of course. No casino can possibly afford to be loosest in every single category. They have to make their money somewhere. But just because you can find a casino with a few looser games (and a whole lot of tighter games) doesn't shake me from my conviction that the South Point is looser overall than other casinos.

Bob

I guess you are looking for information about the Rampart Casino where Michael Gaughan Jr. is the manager. Yes, they have revoked the players cards of many video poker players very similar to what the South Point did.

From: bobbartop@yahoo.com

I'm wondering if other casinos "related" to SP either have or are going to have a similar policy. I can't even keep track, I don't know which ones are or which ones aren't, but apparently it's a "family business".

Yes, I believe the Gaming Commission is interested in casino promotions.

At least some casinos correlate their kiosk games (swipe-and-win) to the players mailer level. People who get the higher mailers get much better prizes in those games. I've seen this repeatedly at Stations, Silverton and somewhat at Coasts.

[vpFREE] Re: Stations Buying Palms

Usually the negatives outweigh the positives of one casino buying another casino.

Suppose there are two independent casinos next door to each other. They currently have independent players clubs and independent promotions. They also have to compete and do things to provide incentive to visit their location rather than their competitor.

If one of these casinos were to purchase the other, it eliminates the competition, and it could mean the players club, marketing, promotions, etc all get merged, effectively causing you to lose a playable casino.

Re: [vpFREE] Red Rock

Call and talk to a host. The first time you go, see if you can make it a weekday stay for one or two nights. I would not try to get a room for New Years or Super Bowl the first time.

What type of play is needed to receive offers at Red Rock? Stopped by there one day & really enjoyed it. I'm a diamond at Harrahs, mostly from Atlantic City play & I'm also a high sapphire at Boyds. I would like to stay at Red Rock on my next visit but I haven't paid for a room in over 30 years & I just won't do it now. How do I get my foot in their door?

These days, many casinos have become lazy and only look at your W2G's without considering your losses (which are harder to accurately track). So, somebody, probably an intern, got around to checking out the big W2G winners, and you got flagged. They also generally will tell you nothing about this, instead they will use a generic excuse like you only play on good days or you win too much or you're too good for them.

That's a rediculously strong claim and easily proven wrong. What South Point probably has is more 99% or better games than anyone else in Las Vegas, which I believe is their marketing claim.

Speaking of loose video poker, does South Point have 8-5 Super Aces or 15-11 Deuces? I don't think so, so there goes the "loosest video poker" claim.

Re: [vpFREE] Kiosk Games

As a rule of thumb, if the game doesn't show what you would have got if you had picked another symbol then the game is probably not random. On the other hand it could be random in the same way that a slot machine is random with the better prizes coming up much less often.

Regards
A.P.

Re: [vpFREE] South Point Warning

I do appreciate hearing Bob's insights on this matter. In my opinion South Point has games and promotions that make them attractive to recreational players while at the same time having limitations in place that keep them from being an employer for pros. IIRC their top mailer is only $300 a month for locals (most months). Not going to give up my full time job for that! Multiplier days are only once a month on average. That leaves a lot of days unemployed! Like I said before, their top single line return game is $2 NSUD. How much can you make one day a month at 3c per hand? When they have a promo like the current kiosk swipe, you can only earn 300 points then the promo is over for the day. When they do the annual gas card promotion it's usually limited to $500 as I recall.

Taking all this into account, I don't understand why they they sweat the small amount of money a very few people could make there. They spend money promoting their image as a gambler friendly casino then behind the scenes they are trying to secretly kick out a few people that might have the potential to win a few dollars.

First they told me I was kicked out because I always played on 2X point days. I knew this wasn't true for me. I think this is the most common reason for most people so it is what they say. I used to play a lot on 2X point days years ago. I won't deny that. I just looked back at my records and the last time I played on a 2X point day was Christmas 2014. They have a memory! I wrote down I played $50,660 on $1 9/6 JoB SpinPoker and lost $3400 that day. I was a terror however, I had an edge of 0.144% or $72.95! Since then I've played many, many days. Never that much and usually on promotion days. Maybe they don't like that either?

Secondly they gave me the line that I had won a lot of money there and it was not their desire to retain winners as customers. I do my records on paper so extracting lifetime win/loss by casino would take a long time so I'll take their word for that. Several years ago they had $25 9/6 JoB and I had the good fortune to have 2 Royal Flushes there within a period of about a year. They are long gone and they haven't had any high denomination games since that appealed to me so I have no doubt that I am still way ahead there. Still it seems like a long time to hold a grudge and get revenge.

[vpFREE] Re: Trip to Atlantis Bahamas Full Report (long)

Great trip report, Miss C.

I've been to Atlantis twice and would like to add a couple things:
1. Check your bill daily and keep your receipts until checkout. Their system of tracking room charges seems to be based on some advanced Chaos Theory of Accounting. After one stay, I was overcharged about $1600 (Complained greatly and got it reduced to manageable proportions). The next time I was undercharged $150 (Slunk out of there without saying a word).
2. Sorry you didn't care for Olives. We loved it. Also Virgil's Barbecue had unbelievable portions and quite tasty. For less expensive options, we enjoyed the Deli (Murray's?) and the outdoor burger place by the Cove pool.
3. As you mentioned, drinks are expensive in the resort. We had our driver stop on our way from the airport and we picked up beer at some weird beer store (It had a valet and we had to be buzzed in. It was expensive, but cheaper than at the resort).
4. It is godawful beautiful there.

Thanks again, Miss C.

Max
