Re: [vpFREE] Harrah's Cherokee

Harry: We've been to Cherokee 4 times when visiting my wife's parents who live in Asheville. The hotel is really nice, their gourmet restaurant is above average, but their casino isn't something you'd want to go back to. The entire property's been upgraded and expanded upon the past few years so it's an overall decent place.

Good luck at Ak-Chin or wherever you plan to stay and/or play at in the Phoenix area. We stayed at the new Casino Arizona Talking Stick Resort on a local's free visit offer just before we left for good, and it is a very nice and modern little property.

Subject: [vpFREE] Harrah's Cherokee

Thanksgiving plans have been dashed when close friends, who were to make the drive to our new home in Marietta from Philly, cancelled this weekend (one was hospitalized with complications related to colon cancer for which he was treated a year ago October. We're hoping for the best and will visit next week.)

So the turkey's on ice until family visits at Christmas and we've decided instead to check out Cherokee, just a 3 hour drive.

Looking for a little feedback (there's already a fair amount here and in other forums ... just asking for it to be freshened up a bit).

I've already gathered that there's nothing "playable" under $5.

One thing that's caught my eye is discussion re a game called "Shamrock 7's". It's a joker wild game (quint jackpot) in which any final hand with trip 7's enters a bonus round akin to that of the Bally's Goldmine Bonus vp for a full house.

What I find notable is that the manufacturer of the game isn't licensed for NV or AC, leading me to a suspicion that the machines don't deal a "fair" deal. Not what I would expect to find in a Harrah's/CZR branded casino ... but I realize that all bets are off when it comes to tribal gaming and any oversight.

In any case, we're doing TG dinner at Paula Deen's Kitchen -- reviews sound positive, though mixed on service.

Reserved a premium room, Creek Tower. Sounds like one of the other towers offers a jacuizzi tub in it's premium rooms, but didn't like the decor.

Looking for a laid back one-night visit ... headed to PHX Friday. Thanks for any feedback.

- H.
