We used to do this same thing many years ago, before someone on this group mentioned the line of credit at the casino. So much more convenient - we just bring our food and entertainment money, and get a marker (usually by day) on our line of credit at our favorite casino. We handle our money similar to you, in that we have a daily allotment, and if we don't use all of that day's money we roll it over to the next. Then we just settle up with the casino before we leave.
This works great for us, and to me seems better than the travelers checks. Even though we did it for years, there was a lot of record keeping to be done on the travelers checks. And you are supposed to keep your list of used check numbers separate from the checks, etc. The line of credit has been a breeze, and we have never had any problem with it. It keeps us from having to bring large sums of cash with us, and avoids the hassle of the travelers checks.
