RE: [vpFREE] LVRJ: Comp meals must be taxed, NV state Tax Commission finds

If they pass the tax on to employees and patrons using comps and in however long it will take for this dispute to be resolved by the NV supreme court and if they overturn the tax - how will all of those $millions ever be refunded to individual people who paid them? Will we need to keep records and each person seek a refund from the state?

I'm not saying this is or isn't stupid. . . I'm just wondering how it

may affect the free meals that many casinos offer their employees.

Will they now discontinue this? Will they charge for the meal?

Will they charge just the tax on the meal?

And what about players that are comped? Will we end up

paying just the tax on our meals? Will the property involved

also waive this? (I doubt it as there are many examples of

the properties passing on taxes--ie-last 7 Stars event in AC etc.)

A comped meal is still a nice benefit--however having to actually

"pay" for part of it just kinda takes the "shine" off the whole thing. . . .

Just sayin. . . . .

Typical brain-dead bureaucratic money grab.

While I agree that stingier F&B comps are in our future (and said as much on last Thursday's radio show), I don't understand what makes this a stupid ruling or a brain-dead bureaucratic money grab. States need to generate income from somewhere, and everybody rathers that "other people" are the ones footing the bill. To most non-gamblers it makes sense to tax casinos more. (And to most non-smokers it makes sense to tax smokers more. And to most non-drinkers . . . etc.) Is it just because it hurts us that it's a "stupid ruling?" Or do you have a less-self-centered argument as well? Bob
