The 9/6 $1 machines that were on the other side of the sports book area, opposite the casino have been moved around slightly, but are still there. Hilton also has $1 NSU in the progressive bank by the sports book.
Coupons in mailers no longer need to be cashed at the cage but are for free play. If you have an out of town address, the mail offers can be quite good. You still need to book a room to cash the coupons. If the free play isn't working when u check in go to the booth.
One annoying feature, you can now download only $25 at a time. I had $300 so had to keep typing in my pin and other numbers over and over. Argh.
The buffet is very good, and includes beer or wine. Locals should be sure to get a sticker for 25% off all food outlets. We also love Benihanas food, though we are tired of the same jokes all the time.
I took friends to see Elvis Impersonator Trent Carlini in the Shimmer Cafe. I'd seen his show about 10 years ago when it was in the main showroom. At that time I thought he was the best Elvis, but 10 years later he seemed tired, didn't look so much like Elvis, had a bad wig, and the show just lacked energy. He is backed up by 3 excellent, sexy dancers, and thank goodness for them. His small band is hidden behind the curtain, and would have been better if on stage. Show may still be worth seeing if you are a big Elvis fan or get a comped ticket, but otherwise, sadly, is now a skip it.
