I'll ad my two cents to the tale of an AT hold...
I was playing a nickle triple play STP, and I actually WANTED to hold the AT, and for some reason the 10 didn't "stick", hit draw and up popped KQJ...i immediately called a slot tech, and had them run the hand back and sure enough the button was kinda "iffy" (when you play fast, you have a very light keystroke), my luck it was a 3x multiplier (STP remember)...my host also came over to confirm the $600 payout...
Pretty pointless royal...as I stepped it up to 25c, and managed to quickly lose $400 of it back...

I became a smarter video poker player in the past few years by purchasing Winpoker and by listening to the pros. Much to my chagrin, it cost me $1,350 on a vp progressive at the Riviera. I was dealt an A of Diamonds and a 10 of Diamonds and of course I threw away the 10. What comes up but the King, Queen and Jack of diamonds. And I was without a Royal. Is there ever a time when you should keep an Ace and a Ten of the same suit?
