Any information on the Hotel Nevada or Ely casinos would be appreciated. Or are we better off just stopping in Jackpot instead?

I don't know exactly where you are going to hit US Hwy 93, but if you are going to run it from Eureka, Montana all the way down, and have never done it before, you are in for a real treat. The drive down past Glacier Park to Whitfish, Kalispell, and down by Flathead Lake is gorgeous. Flathead Lake itself is a secret gem in this country. Doyle Brunson has a summer home at Dayton.
From there 93 goes down through Missoula, then down the Bitterroot Valley (absolutely gorgeous)and into Idaho where you will drive along the Salmon River and catch views of the Sawtooth Mountains.
The Hotel Nevada in Ely is a very old historic hotel that was once the tallest building in Nevada. Back in the day movie stars going from California to Sun Valley used to stay there. It's kind of like staying at Grandma's place. I don' think you'll find much in the way of good video poker there these days, same in Jackpot.
It's about 6 of 1 and half dozen of another as to whether you should stay in Ely or Jackpot. But you do have a third option. From Wells, just south of Jackpot, you can take a 50 mile jog on the interstae to Wendover. You'll probably like the amenities better there than either Ely or Jackpot. Then you can take Alt. 93 down through Ely to Las Vegas.
