We've eaten at the Palms buffet, on average, two or three times every month, for the past four years. It is a good value for us, as we get a discount when using points. My opinion is that it has steadily improved in quality over that time frame.
With apologizes to Westie (I like food just as much, but can't write as well as he does), here's my review of the Palms buffet.
If you are a meat and potatoes kind of guy, this might not be the buffet for you. The selection of American type food is limited, and uneven in quality. The salad bar has too few items.
What I like about buffets is that I can try new stuff I probably wouldn't take a chance on ordering at a sit-down restaurant. What they do well at the Palms is the Middle Eastern and Asian selections. Also, the chef often puts out an unusual entree, often involving sea bass. On seafood nights, I am impressed by the quality and variety of the sushi.
The desserts are super good. Best chocolate cake ever. And they have someting I haven't seen elsewhere-a huge self serve Douwe Egbert coffee machine, which cooks up several types of fancy coffees.
