I'm getting a lot of private emails thanking me for this post, and I wanted to thank you all for your thanking me.
I understand that sometimes it seems like the casinos are our enemies, but a lot of that is self fulfilling prophecy. As pros have started hiding and skulking around, it's begun to convince the management that they have something to hide. If you act like you're guilty, people will think you are guilty. We know we aren't doing anything wrong, now it's time to start acting like it.
Recently at the Palms, a friend and his wife were afraid to talk to me, because they thought it might bring heat down on them. I tired to explain to them that being seen with me, could only help their case. I'm known for being ethical and refusing to talk to anybody shady. I'm also known for turning in malfunctioning machines to management. Gosh, what a terrible stigma to be associated with. Oh well, their loss.
Will there be some casinos that kick people out that don't deserve it? Of course there will. But to hell with them. If I didn't toss 90% of my mail in the trash, there wouldn't be enough time in the day to cover just the "good" casinos.
Has it really gotten to the point where people are willing to go to work, just for the money, where the are hated and despised and they have to hide their true faces? I don't think that's a good policy, and I think if one is willing to do that, it could be very damaging to their psyches.
As humans we need to feel appreciated and useful to be happy. I see darkness and sorrow for any that take the other path.
