A friend emailed me today that the lounge in the new Venetian Palazzo
admits only Platinum level players. For those not familiar, that
level is reached now at well over $1 million coin-in annually.
This attempts to be a strategy of segregation similar to Caesars
having a separate 7* and Diamond Lounge.
But, I think this may backfire on the V and poor Sheldon. Last week
the new casino was "stinky", and now it's the attitude of the higher
ups.
At Caesars, the two lounges aren't that far away from one another,
and the distance to the casino is similar.
But at the Venetian, the original casino and Palazzo are in two
entirely separate areas. That indicates to me that Gold level players
really have no incentive to play at Palazzo if the machine selection
is not superior to where they can play and then comfortably be
allowed admittance to relax.
To me, it's a bad move in establishing player loyalty and habits.
After all, the path for 99% of us to achieve Platinum is by achieving
Gold first and playing on.
