They may be jealous or just feel that he is selling a dream unfairly. Look at the WSOP on TV, every hand is interesting. Some people did and
still do make a living on VP. How many books would anyone sell if they said that watching paint dry is more fun than JoB or if they
have 10 small boring losing sessions between big hits.
I personally think that Dancer addresses the prep work needed mentally and financially but I bet most readers grab their wallet and
run to the casino hoping to break the bank.
When someone gets their butt kicked from bad play, insufficient bankroll or bad EV calculation most people are not going to blame themselves.
Playing at the subsidized vacation level is very doable in the AC area. If I was retired I could see a very modest pt income possible here and I do look at the LV promotions and drool a bit.
Point is that they might be angry they can't duplicate the results in the books and columns.
The other thing people forget is that he and the other writers get the information on special promotions based on their good relationship
with the casinos. So when the Riv screws ups he has to address it but he can't totally rake them over the coals because that would be the
last time he would get any information out of them. People like me depend on guys like Dancer and McEwen to plan their trips. So while
I may think that a certain casino person might need to be outed as messing up, I'd rather the columnists stay on good terms and keep feeding us information
on opportunities.
