I recently took time to do a little fiddling with the new death defying
VP progressives at the M. I don't know how much interest our members
have in these, but I figured that I wold post what I have done thus far.
I know from experience that I have had problems in the past with
accuracy and alignment when pasting text into a post, so I made three
files and submitted them to the administrator. He put them into the
files section at vpFREE today. If anyone is interested in getting the
files, the three names that you will be looking for in the files section
are: M PROG. GAME STATS.doc, M KBJW 96.74 PROG..xls, and M UGLY DUCKS
96.76% PROG..xls. For those of you who may have trouble finding the
files section at vpFREE, just click here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpFREE/files/
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpFREE/files/> . The game stats file
covers all eight games with royal cycle length, variance, and projected
ER for the quarter games for royal totals from the reset $1,000 up to
$5,000 in ascending $500 increments. The two XL spreadsheets are royal
strike numbers for all of the hand holds that I could think of for both
the deuces game and the KBJW game. These are the two initial games that
the two radio guys posted 10,000 coin strategies for on their websites,
and said strategies would be wonderful if, every time you walked into
the M to play them, the quarter game was at $2,500 and the dollars at
$10,000. What about every other potential royal total? Well, using
their strategies, sometimes your change in a hold will be right,
sometimes you will be wrong. I have posted previously about seat of the
pants progressive players, so I guess the 10,000 coin player, I would
call the close enough for government work player. Not sure how others
do it, but I need a little more accuracy than a one size fits all
strategy offers. In the KBJW game for instance, sure it is correct to
play a 3 royal hold over two pair at a $2,500 royal, but the truth is,
you can start doing this on any two pair, even kings and aces, at less
than $200 added on to the meter. If you as a player are not aware of
this, you could be ignoring a lot of mathematically correct shots at a
royal between $1.360 and $2,500. Not taking every advantage at a proper
shot at a royal defeats one of the main reasons for playing a
progressive in the first place--shortening the royal cycle. If there is
any interest in this thread, I will have more to say on this when I have
the time. For now, I figure anyone who has a strong interest in
progressive play most probably already has a strategy generator, and can
run any X coin strategy they want and print it, but I prefer to be
prepared as best I can at multiple royal levels. Anyway, the
abbreviations in my files should all be easy to decipher. I try to
state hands as specifically as I can so most any skill level of player
can understand it. I don't use SF-3, or +0, or two way divided by pi,
etc.. I try for simplicity. One mention, when I compare two holds like
in the deuces file, JQ >68T @ $ 2,391.25 , when there are no
parentheses, both choices are suited, albeit not in the same suit. But
like the (TA,JA,QA) w FLU PEN>KA @ $ 1,405.00, the parenthese indicate
TA is suited, while KA is not. If anyone has a question, post or shoot
me a private email. All figures are raw data, not rounded or altered at
all. I left it this way because I think it will be good for those of
you who are interested, to look for the similar hand categories where
the totals are close, and can be consolidated using a mean or max strike
number. I'm sure there's mpre I wanted to say, but it is late, I may
remember in the morning.
