I see this everywhere too, and also in many sports bars. I guess if all the TVs were each playing WITH sound, there would be too many stations competing for your ear with their sound track, and you wouldn't be able to really hear any of them. In fact, most of the time you couldn't anyway, with the casino or bar noise. Of course, they are there so you can watch the sporting events if you're a sports bettor, without having to stop gambling and go somewhere like the sports book or your room.
