Re: [vpFREE] Z

Walking around in masks for decades has worked out pretty darn well in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan during this pandemic.

They've been walking around in China for decades with masks. How'd that work out for them?

rock,

Just understand one thing that distinguishes this virus from typical flu's is the fact that practically no one has immunity to it.  Even once we get to 50% "herd immunity", either through prior infection or immunization, the spread of COVID-19 through social contact will be substantially curtailed (though my no means negligible).  When we achieve 80%+, it's reasonable to expect a significant return to "normalacy".

The fact that the mortality rate associated with COVID-19 is several times that of a typical flu means that it's reasonable to expect people to be more willing to take precaution;.

There's no ideal time at which to begin disengaging from the degree of social isolation being practiced today.  But one hopes that to the extent we begin to do so, it's with an informed understanding of the risks and a grasp of what practical measures, consistently employed, will reduce those risk to a level that we find reasonable to assume in other aspects of life.

unless this virus just goes away, will we ever be safe?  even with a vaccine.  we have the flu vaccine available yet so many people die from it every year and so many choose not to take the vaccine.  you can't rely on the sick people to stay home, they've been going out for years and years with no concern about spreading their germs.  the way people cough and sneeze into their hands, pick their teeth and noses then touch the chips is a big reason why I'm not a big fan of table games or live poker.  i loved the electronic texas holdem tables but they unfortunately disappeared quickly.  I am itching to go back to the casinos, but I will continue to wear my mask and disinfect any vp or slot machine that i plan on playing.  I feel for everyone who's affected by this dreaded virus, the sick, the unemployed, the essential workers, all of us.

vent over.
