I got into the casino and discovered that my wallet, with plenty of cash
and credit cards was missing. I checked with security and everywhere else I
thought I might have lost it but to no avail. I canceled the credit cards
by phone and took some money by ATM to play with. An hour or so later, my
phone had a message on it (I hadn't heard it ring). After several
back-and-forths I got in touch with a woman who had found the wallet near the
Valet where It had dropped to the ground out of my purse. She wouldn't turn it
into security, worried that they would take any money in it. We connected
a day later and, of course, every penny was still there along with
cancelled credit cards (I didn't tell her I'd done that) and personal papers. I
tried to buy her and her husband (there for a convention) dinner but we
never managed even that and she went home with my thanks and good thoughts.
She had gotten my number from the casino host whose card was in my wallet.

Now that is what I would have done but somehow it is one of the rare
stories I know about, not a common occurrence. There was about $500 in that
 wallet.
