Interesting that you bring up that scenario ... last spring I encountered a situation that closely paralleled this:

I played on an attractive cashback multiplier, paid as Free Play. I hit it reasonably hard and had $1700 coming. Next trip I downloaded the full amount into the machine, played it through once and cashed out.

Then I noticed the machine was signaling I still had promotional cash. I checked the amount and was stunned to see a $1700 balance intact. Doubtful it would actually download, I entered the instruction never expecting it to show on the credit meter. Sure enough, $1700 loaded again to my machine.

Well, I gotta tell you, I'm definitely not at risk of being canonized some day. Had the amount in question been a hundred or two (I'm not sure just how high a threshold), I would have played it through and pocketed the residual without missing a beat.

But, truth is, this was at a casino that had treated me well. I just wasn't comfortable snagging an error this large. I made up my mind that I would turn it over. But I didn't want to deal with a run-of-the-mill slot attendant, so decided to play it through and cash out ... then confer with my slot host to determine how best to hand over the voucher. (As you might guess, I looked to hold onto any gain, but let them absorb any loss -- far from altruistic!)

Play was sour, and I lost over 15% in playing it off. I called my host who assisted me in turning the voucher over to a slot manager, but not before strongly suggesting that I had more than a few screws loose (a message that Bev had been attempting to drive through starting the second I suggested I was going to return this unexpected bounty back to the casino).

FWIW, the machine was willing to let me download a third $1700 slug. I had to have them physically clear the promotion out of my account so that I could tap that day's standard promotional cash.

Can't say karma returned anything in kind subsequently. But, I fell short in achieving top slot card tier this year and am thinking of asking for a grace extension, citing my good deed as justification ;)
