Re: [vpFREE] Why is the newer VP machine software so sloooow?

I'm not sure if you're referring specifically to this type of machine, but the My Poker machines take an especially long time to load - if you're a smoker, you can have an after-you-know-what cigarette before you can play your first hand. I suspect that this particular type takes so long because of the interactive features you able to choose, including different backs on the cards, colors of the suits, etc. You can even "sign in" and retrieve your personalized settings that you chose to save from earlier sessions.

Which means that the individual machine is communicating to some central server, which obviously takes additional time, over an above merely loading the single game you've chosen. Now, cynical SOB that I am, since these machines, at least here in CT, feature No-Risk-Double-Up, I wonder if they also track your double-up patterns and learn from them? E.G., if you always take card #4, then card #2, etc. does the machine learn the pattern and adjust where the joker appears? I'm just sayin'

Now I will give them a thumbs-up in that both the regular  and No-Risk-Double-Up versions pay 55 vs. 50 for the SF on 9/6 DDB, making them the best paytables available in this area on that particular game.

Subject: [vpFREE] Why is the newer VP machine software so sloooow?

I'm not talking about playing speed, I'm asking about the time to load the game starting from the game menu.  This question is more out of curiosity than anything else.  For as long as I can recall, on multigame machines the response time to load the games has been quick.  Select a game from the menu... it pops right up.  Hit "see pays"... and the pay table pops up right away.

Within the last year or so, I am seeing more and more VP games upgraded with what seems like really slow software.  When you select a game, it takes forever to load.  In reality it's probably only about 5 to 10 seconds, but compared to the older software which was basically instantaneous, it seems like crawling speed.  Same thing when you try to pull up a pay table after the game has loaded.

Does anybody have an idea why these games take so long to load?  Makes it very tedious to check pay tables.  (Perhaps that's the plan.)
