When I've had this happen in Vegas, I took my printed reservation to another rental agency counter and asked if they could match, no problem doing it. 
My parents visited a couple of weeks ago here at BWI, which also has all rental counters in one place, and found a long line at their reserved rental agency.  So they went to the one next to it which had no lines, and asked if they would match the printed reservation, and indeed they did.
So I would suggest trying the other rental counters in the facility before giving up, if this happens again.

Come on-that sounds like total BS to me. In LV multiple cars are returned every hour.  Sounds to me like he just didn't want to wait in a long line.

Has service rotted out to the point that the customer means nothing today.  No respect, no honor and don't care.  It's what's in it for me..  Or is this just a fluke? He wound up with some car from ,I  believe, EZ Rental or sounds like that.
 
who seems to be rental friendly these days?
