Perhaps because I do not hold a high level card my experience has been even
more painful .... my calls are answered in a foreign country by a person who
has no knowledge of the properties and whose English is impossible to
understand...
I end up with the same lectures that you describe.

extremely time consuming and annoying. First it asks a long series of
questions, like do you have a total reward card, then what is the number,
then do you want to make a reservation or change etc.

typed in your card number so the clerk who finally answers should know who
you are, but nope, "what is your name" .... You tell them, but this isn't
enough for them, now you must give them your date of birth and phone number
to PROVE it is really you. Or sometimes your city too. WHY!!!!!??? Is some
stranger going to call in with your name and card number to falsely make a
reservation in your name? Why would they? And even if they did, they
couldn't actually check into the hotel without giving your credit card and
probably your photo ID too.

name and you have their TR card number, but no, that isn't enough
info....maybe while you were in the middle of the conversation after giving
all the info about yourself you were hit on the head and a stranger took
over the conversation, now you must provide his birthday and maybe more info
to PROVE That you can reserve for him.

though you are a 7 star and calling with an offer code for 3 free nights,
the clerk must repeat at least three times that your room is complimentary
and must tell you all about check in procedures and requirements for having
a credit card or deposit when u check in, etc etc, and even though you say
you don't need this information repeated, the clerk says he MUST give it to
you. And of course, despite the three times assured complimentary status of
the room, he asks to ask if it is okay to use the credit card they have on
file (or give them another), because somehow they just have to have a
deposit for that oh so free room.

hold for a moment" pause, or maybe two or three of them, where you get to
hear overly loud muzac or dated announcements about doings in Las Vegas at
Caesars, including seeing Cher.
