Thanks for sharing that article. Oh, and don't foret those people on
the hotel housekeeping staff (like Ms. Santiago) who started knocking
on doors to make sure people got out.
I've been in NYC almost 18 years now, and work in a hi-rise. It still
baffles me when an "unscheduled" alarm goes off, just how many people
pay no attention and simply continue on with their work - and then
give you an exasperated or annoyed look/remark when you tell them they
should head for an exit. After 9/11 and the '03 blackout, I don't
wait for some voice from a speaker to tell me it's a false alarm.
