This is absolutely untrue. The compact with the state of CT calls for a 25% tax on slot revenue.
The point is that Vegas has changed. Along with marketing to the 20 something crowd (with the bars and clubs) there is no longer any competition on the strip When there was competition we all benefited.
MS in CT has no competition (right now that is very likely to change in a few years) except Foxwoods. A few years ago there was no competition between the comps in Vegas and CT. Now, the CT comps exceed Vegas and there is no airfare or car rentals. It still not Vegas though but I will be reducing my trips and trying a couple of new places in Vegas.
