It still
baffles me when an "unscheduled" alarm goes off, just how many people
pay no attention and simply continue on with their work - and then
give you an exasperated or annoyed look/remark when you tell them they
should head for an exit.
I've always been of the "get out first, you can always go back" persuasion.
Any time an alarm goes off, I'm out of there, whether casino, bridge
tournament or anyplace else. You can always return if it's a false alarm. You
can't always get out if it's real and you wait too long. The stories of people
being told to remain in the WTC give me the creeps - had I been there and
heard an alarm or the crash of the plane, I would have been off down the stairs
in a NY minute.
