I started smoking at age 13 or 14, and continued until I was about 50, 3 to
4 packs daily for many of those years.
One evening, in a bar, was having a dispute with the woman in my life . I
looked at her, looked at the cigarette in my hand, thought to myself
" "You're both bad for my health, don't need either of you", put out the
cigarette, broke up with her, never touched another cigarette.
To preclude the obvious questions, cannot say the same about women (or bars,
for that matter).
I recall some slight discomfort for a few weeks, after which I lost all
desire to smoke.
While there currently are many differents aids to help you quit smaoking,
I think you can do do only if you have a strong desire to do so.
