Re: [vpFREE] Sapphire renewal at BConnected

If I were a betting man I would bet that employee 1 got confused between being Emerald and Earning Emerald. I believe that employee 2 is correct and that if you are deemed to be Emerald on the conversion you will retain that till the end of the year, but you will have to earn the extra points to qualify for Emerald for next year. I'll be at a Boyd property later this month and will be grilling my host to get as much information as I can. If I learn something new I will post it.

My big question is this:  my account says I am Emerald now although I have less that 2000 tier credits under the new system.  That is the number they gave me as the "conversion" number from my old play from the first of this year.  I probably won't play enough to get to 15,000 tier credits (getting 13,000 to add to that 2000) by the end of this year.  But I was told by one employee that "since I was already Emerald this year, I would be Emerald next year."  Someone else was told that you had to get 15,000 tier credits by the end of this year in order to automatically be Emerald next year.  This later seems "fair," but what casino thinks "fair."  Has anyone talked to high enough executives to know what is the correct information here?

Once you achieve a level during a year, you maintain that level for the rest of that year and for the following year. In that following year the points you accumulate will determine your level for the next year.

As an example.

Let's assume with this new system that Boyd has determined that you are now a Sapphire player and have 1,000 points. If you don't earn anymore points for the year you will have a Sapphire card for the remainder of 2018 and all of 2019.

On January 1 , 2019 your tier points will reset to Zero and whatever tier points you earn during the whole year of 2019 will determine your card level for 2020.

If during the year of play in 2019 you accumulated enough tier points to reach Emerald you would be awarded that level immediately and also have that level for 2020.

At least that is the way that I interpret everything I have read so far.

Sapphire will be good for one year. Tier points are reset to zero at end of year. Hopefully they will be hurt by this change and be forced to loosen up.

Does anyone know how long the Sapphire card will be good for?  I thought it used to be a rolling 12 month period in which you needed to play through 25000. I realize everything changes with their new system. Will everything be reset at the end of the year?  Curious as to how Boyd Casinos plan to survive when they are going to make it so difficult to attain higher card levels and give nothing to Ruby cardholders??
