Agreed. It's a "fun" level of skill insomuch as it gives people something to do other than mash a button, although I will say that I have seen people just beat on the screen randomly and hard to try to hit the objects -- it is very annoying.
I believe it's optional but there is also a "money man" that can appear and will immediately boost you to first place ahead of the other competitors for the round. Sunset Station has had it for over a year and GVR just started using it a few months back.
