The comments in LVRJ are interesting.
Harrah's was the king. Reminds me of a guy who owns bar for years. As business falls he decides he'll paint up things, add a room, get a new pool table, make his food menu bigger and clean up the restroom. You hear the manager saying, "when everybody hears about new pool table and other stuff they will come running in."
He forgets the food was crap and he has same chef. No bands, no promotions, same high priced booze and same manager. But, the place is all painted up. "Hey," the mgr says, "I gotta raise prices." Place looks nice. I'll be making si much. "I think I'll buy a couple more bars. If I have most of the bars in town, I can raise prices and lower portion size in restaurant. I'll have most of joints in town. Boy will I make $$!" Other bars in town decide to raise prices to make as much as the king bars.
Everybody in town starts cooking at home, they buy their beer and whiskey at package store. They switch from pool to horse shoes and badminton. It takes a few years till folks get tired of being ripped.
Bar owners sit around wondering where the customers have gone. "It's the recession " , they say. They forget that gambling business is a recession business. It's always been. In recession, however, they may have lost the "family" gambler. All $30 a day bankroll. To keep gamblers coming they need to offer fair shake, and .....they don't.
Just one guys opinion........Jeep
