I think this is a neat way to look at the world. What's the EV of your actions?

Every year, my spouse asks me to plant tomatoes. The tomatoes that we end up with cost $50 apiece. That's figuring in only what I spend on plants, dirt , fertilizer, etc., and not my time and labor.

Reading your posts made me think of the EV, and inspired me to try to come up with creative solutions. It would be better (and probably less expensive) to send the money to a relative in New Jersey and ask him to airmail us some good tomatoes. Perhaps I could look online for a Good Tomatoes of the Month Club.

Please, let's NOT start a tomato advice thread here!!! This is just an example of when I ought to have considered the EV.
