Unnecessary refers to the fact that unlike a $1200+ hand pay which requires a
W2G, there is no reason for a hand pay of under that amount. Mohegan Sun up
until fairly recently, hand paid every "jackpot" of $500 or more. Totally
unnecessary, and a huge waste of time.
I do, in fact, tip on hand pays where I'm getting a W2G, the amount according to
2 factors: the pleasantness, or lack thereof, of the slot attendant, and the
speed with which I receive my money.
If I were a slot attendant, the word unnecessary might stir anger in me even if
I agreed with the last part of your comment about Harrah's being too cheap.
While tipping is voluntary, withholding might transfer the cheap connotation to
the withholder.
