Well, Hedy finally ended another drought last Friday morning at Harrah's AC
when she hit the first $4,000 royal of her career. It came while we were
playing 50-cent DBDJ after breakfast and came during another productive session
for both of us.
Things started well when I was dealt quad nines and quad sevens about 10
minutes apart. Then, I got aces, threes and fours and wore a smile from ear to
ear as my credit meter went from its starting point of 200 to over 2,000.
Hedy, meanwhile, had one quad early on and then hit aces about five minutes
after I hit mine.
While my machine continued to rack up hits, hers took a sudden downturn and
when I looked over I saw that her credits had shrunk below 100. Then, when it
looked as if she was going to have to feed the machine another Benjie, she
held three jacks and got the fourth.
So, we continued to play and suddenly, I heard her scream. Her machine
locked up and bells started to play. It was the Day After Valentine's Day but when
I looked over I saw five lovely hearts ... ace through 10 on her screen, and
I knew that, despite lousy timing, she had finally gotten another monkey off
her back. She had held the king and jack of hearts on the end positions and
the ace, queen and ten had filled in the middle. Beautiful!!
Now, Hedy has hit a pair of $8,000 royals (once on the top line of
Multi-Strike and another with an 8X multiplier on Super Times Pay) but she had never
hit one for $4,000 despite a lot of dollar play on 9/6 JOB over the years. So,
I guess she was due for this one. It was our second $4,000 royal of the
year, following my $1 JOB hit of two weeks ago, also at Harrah's.
With Hedy's hit and the money we collected turning our Rewards Credits to
cash, also on Friday, we finished the four-day weekend trip with an excess of
about $3,800 in our pockets.
We leave tomorrow for New Orleans for a free Harrah's cruise to Mexico (five
days) and will be staying at Showboat Feb. 29-March 2 while I take part in
ATLarge next door at the Taj Mahal. So, the first two months of 2008 will come
to an end with us in a break-even situation for the year, a far cry from the
disastrous 2007 we suffered through. A pair of $4,000 royals can do that for
you!! Let's hope the trend continues!!
