Re: [vpFREE] xVP - any hotel changes?

We just returned from Las Vegas.  We arrived on Mon, Jun 29 and stayed at the Luxor.  From Mon to Wed,
I could look around and only see maybe 5-6 people within 30 feet of me no matter where I went in the casino.
They had the hand washing stations and masks and gloves available also thru-out the casino. Sanitizers were
ALL OVER!  ALL the restaurants had well-spaced seating.  (Note:  Tender and Rice were not open) Mask wearing
compliance was very good.  Security etc would tell people to pull up their masks etc.   Our suite was taped when
we entered.  No one was allowed into the room while we were in there.  In fact--our host met us at check-in to
give us our "goodie basket" as they couldn't deliver it to our room after we entered.  We had our temps taken at
check-in.  As it got closer to the weekend-- a security guard monitored the elevators to make sure they weren't
crowded.  It wasn't an issue yet--but we were glad he was there.  I'd say mask compliance was approx 95%.  It
seems all were wearing a mask--but some only over their mouth etc. I have to admit that wearing a mask that
long was not pleasant to me.  It often gave me a headache--not complaining--just a fact.  One thing that amazed
me was all the folks coming in on Thur and Friday (when we left and we were thankful that we did leave Friday) with
all the kids and even babies!  All the younger kids had to wear masks too but not the babies.  I was concerned for
myself but realized that not everyone has the same amount of concern--even for their own kids!  (concerned to me
meant that I traveled and stayed when it wasn't that busy--and I'd certainly wouldn't travel and take my kids if
they were that young!)  We did not have any housekeeping, but was told that if we needed anything to just call
them.  We did have plenty of soaps, lotions and shampoos in our room to last and we just made our own bed
each AM.  We DID have a coffee maker in our room--but no coffee or cups.  Seemed strange that they just didn't
take the coffee maker out too!  We had gotten a good offer that enticed us and we were glad we went and felt
very safe when we were there.  I would not feel as comfortable if we had stayed the weekend.  Going back to the
airport--our limo driver was great to talk to.  He was really "up" on the Vegas vibe and told us that we're all going
to see some great offers to get us back to Vegas including airfare.  He said that there are no or very limited
conventions so all they have are the tourists and players to try to lure back.  Let's hope he's right!    Jean H
PS--many of the machines had been moved to accommodate the 6' spacing.  Some were turned off for the same
reason with no chair in front of them.

We just got back from LV and twice there were people standing at the machines with no chairs playing. I thought most were wearing the mask but of course there were several not wearing one or not covering their nose and/or mouth. I really never felt any danger. Had a very good time and won some money.

Funny...I thought that mandatory meant 100 %.

That's one of several reasons I'm passing on casinos for now.

Thanks, Harry, and others who are providing details.  Still contemplating my first return to Vegas, but I know for sure I would have caved first on the coffee run!

Switched to Harrah's Lake Tahoe last night (fwiw, Harvey's is closed, incl casino floor, but opens tomorrow).

Thermal imagine camera at check-in which was a hit-and-miss experience (I had to pass it 3x, Bev had too much hair covering her face, so they resorted to a handheld device.)

No coffee in the room this am (as you would expect).  I don't image Starbucks will be free (when Tunica Horseshoe decided to eliminate the housekeeping fuss of room coffeemakers, they at least provided two Starbucks coupons at check-in).  Bev and I appear to be in a passive-aggressive stalemate, waiting to see who's the most desperate to go down and retrieve coffee ;)  (In my lame "defense", while she enjoyed 10 hours of sleep last night, I foolishly caffeinated up late afternoon and didn't bed down until 3:30a.)

Face mask compliance was strong in the casino (est 80%).  Signage at the entrance to the hotel from self-parking stated they were mandatory and that complimentary masks were available.  Saw one guest twiddling a mask in his hands who was approached by security and told it must be actively worn.  Still, late last night witnessed a posse of six 20-somethings weaving their way through the casino, all sans mask.

Slot machines weren't being proactively wiped down the sanitizer, from what I observed (unlike at Eldorado).  Foam sanitizer dispensers have been installed sporadically in the casino, but I didn't observe any stations dispensing sanitizer wipes (again, unlike Eldorado, which had pop-up with generously sized wipes).

We were at Paris for 3 days earlier this week.  Temp check at check-in.  Masks being handed out everywhere.  No maid service, but we were able to get some extra towels from maid we saw on our floor.

Food options were very limited.    JJ's Boulangerie open 24 hours, but menu didn't change. Pizza did not look good, but sandwiches were OK.  Le Creperie and a couple of others only open for breakfast to noon (we like to sleep in!).  Had great burgers at Beer Park on roof in shaded & misted open air, but RC cost is two to one.  Had a $10 credit per day at JJ's as the Laurel Lounge was closed plus could get 4 drinks per day at bars.

We did like that many slot machine banks were set up distanced.  Buckets of sanitizer wipes were available everywhere to wipe down your machine.

I am at Flamingo now. No maid service. Temperature check before checking in. Venetian and GVR also require temp check before entry to casino.

Harry's estimate on masks about right. Very busy at most places we have been. GVR probably most quiet. Downtown was crowded. 3 players max at most table games makes it hard to find a seat at times. Most machines on, but limited chairs at Caesars properties.

Oh- and no watching table games. Flamingo has been too strick on that but maybe it's Gaming keeping an eye on them. If I am 6' from a table with a mask on why can't I watch my friends play while I wait for a seat? And most places are strict about telling people to wear masks.

It is definitely a different experience.

FYI and thanks, Lee.

Wondering what, if any, changes anyone has seen within the hotel rooms in Vegas casinos.
