Re: [vpFREE] LVRJ: Caesars properties offer incentives to get people to wear masks

I live in Vegas. I just spent three weeks on an Indian reservation in Cali that required masks everywhere on property. Every third machine was live, one chair per bank. I haven't been in a Vegas casino since March 17th. Why would anyone over 65 stay inside our local casinos ? Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

Wow - didn't think I'd start such a firestorm.  Guess I should have been clearer (and wordier) versus succinct.  First, I am 'pro-mask' and would much prefer that all the casinos had opted for requiring masks, instead of only 'encouraging' their use.  Second, my comment pertained to the info in the article & how the incentive was being executed.

A promotional team walking the casino floors randomly passed out $20 in free slot-machine play to Caesars Rewards loyalty card customers wearing masks while gambling.

In reality they are rewarding people who are, on their own, already being responsible, but only those on the casino floor.  What about all of the other public areas - hallways, shops, etc.?  Are we to hope that those not wearing masks will then start using them in hope of being randomly selected?  I'm not optimistic.

In a limited-time promotion, Caesars officials said they offered the incentives at their five reopened properties: Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas, Flamingo, The Linq Hotel and Harrah's Las Vegas.
A Caesars spokeswoman said over the weekend that $7,500 in free play was handed out to 375 customers.

$7,500 to 375 people averages out to about 75 players per casino, at a total of Five venues, for a period of approx. 2-to-3 days (depending on what constituted the weekend).  Even with max capacity rates reduced to 25%, that's not a particularly impressive result.

Add Delaware to the list of "must wear mask" when in stores, casinos. . .any place where you're interacting with others.  It's not just for your personal protection, but to prevent you from inadvertently spreading the virus to someone else.

Pat,

Where are you getting your information? California went to mandatory masks whenever you are out of your house. So, the entire state of California got it wrong?

Both the CDC and WHO recommend masks right behind staying at home and staying 6 feet apart in public. And even with the 6 foot rule, they still recommend a mask.

The no protection statement is flat out wrong.

Supposedly cloth masks offer no protection and is detrimental to the wearer because of CO2 buildup.

We'll see how stupid it is when we have to shut all of the casinos down again to stop the spread of Covid-19 due to people to selfish to wear a mask.  This is not about politics.  This is about common sense.  The casinos know it.  Shame Neil can't see it.
