Re: [vpFREE] Re: Thanking your host

Well the first paragraph is correct otherwise hosts don't have a job.

Every casino is different but generally a host gets directly compensated for your play and I don't see any need to tip when they are just doing their job and your play warrants such comps (making hotel reservations, sending a car to pick you up at the airport, or opting you into a promotion).  These things are not coming out of their pocket but are what the casino gives you.  If a host goes above and beyond the "norm" then a tip might be warranted -- such as getting you extra rooms during a holiday for friends or family or being very proactive about promotions that you should consider that offer real value to you.

In today's environment, most everything is driven by what the host's computer says you are entitled to and generally they will not go too far beyond that unless they see a consistent increase in your play level.

In my opinion, it all comes down to how "needy" you are and if you are always asking for things that are "above and beyond".  If that is the case, then perhaps a tip is OK.

The next issue is that every casino has rules about hosts accepting gifts.  So you would need to learn the rules of the casino where you want to give the gift otherwise the host may not be able to keep the gift (and may not be able to tell you that they cannot keep the gift).  Some casinos do not allow any gifts, some put a limit on the amount of any cash or gift given.

Many times you are better off asking who their supervisor is and sending a note stating how happy you have been with the host's service.

So far my only response has been from this helpful gentleman:

Why in the world would you EVER even think of giving a casino host a "gift"? You do realize that their sole purpose in their working life is to drain as much cash from your wallet and accounts as they possibly can, while somehow making you feel "good" about it and believing they are your "friend" at your supposed "home away from home"!

Just the fact that you admit to being 7-Stars at such a failed casino outfit and that you asked such a question, tells anyone who knows they're way around casinos that you need a lot of better advice than you've been getting....and you need to stop listening to phonies like Dancer and Jean Scott.

Good luck going forward.
