Obviously it doesn't really matter whether you get 80 royals with all of them on draws, or 80 royals with some of them from draws and some of them dealt (and counting the dealt one to be as many royals as it generates).
But, equally obviously, if someone tells me I'm going to get 16 royals, and I'm playing multi-play, then it most certainly matters whether 15 of them are draws and one is dealt -- or if all of them are draws and none is dealt -- or at the extreme, if all 16 were dealt -- because then the 16 royals I'm going to get become more than 16 royals.
I suppose the response will be that if I'm doing multi-play and I get a dealt royal among my 16, then I'm NOT getting the "16 royals" I was told I was getting; instead I'm getting more.
Maybe it's just semantics or a matter of being absolutely clear as to what is being said. Seems like I'm always mis-reading what people are trying to tell me :)

Chances of a dealt royal are about 1 in 649,000. Let's say you play dollar 5 play. You are playing $25 a pull so you will run $16,225,000 through one 1 dealt royal cycle.
About 5% of the time, you will go 3 cycles without hitting a dealt royal/ That would be about $49 million coin in.
Your post mentioned you played single line and quarters as well. So, on average you would hit the dealt royal sooner but since your records aren't particularly accurate, it is very tough to determine if your results are reasonable.
I've been playing video poker for about 25 years and have had 1 dealt royal. If I had to estimate, I'd say that was 2.5 million dealt hands. One dealt royal in 2.5 million hands is about an 8% chance of occurrence. Not even worth mentioning.
More importantly is how many total royals you have in that period. In 649000 hands you would average about about 16 royals. Does it matter if 15 are drawn and one is dealt ? And on 5 play, if you have 649,000 deals, you have played 3,245,000 hands and would average about 80 royals. Does it matter if 80 are from draws and none are from dealt royals?
The more conditions you put on a particular occurrence, the easier it is to find something unusual. If you tracked the suits of royals, you would probably see variance in the occurrence.
Yeah, the math might be boring or confusing, but it works. Most of the unusual occurrences I read about on this site aren't so unusual.

On the ever-rarer occasions when I hit a royal, I quickly take a photo while waiting for the staff to show up. Usually I'm done before they get there, but once they showed up quickly enough to "catch" me and they told me I couldn't take the photo I had just taken :) I said OK and put away the phone, and that was the end of it. I agree that while they may still have the policy, it's near-impossible to enforce (if, in fact, it was ever really enforceable).
I do wonder what the "legal" aspects of it are. Could they rightfully bar you for taking a photo, or worse yet, confiscate the camera (especially if the camera is also your phone)? OK, they can bar you for anything (in Vegas, anyway), so never mind that part :)

In the old days (good or bad), casinos did not allow gamblers to take photos on the gambling floor. I never knew exactly why. Perhaps to prevent accidently including a person who didn't want anyone to know he was there. I'm guessing.
Maybe 20 years ago, I got a royal flush at the Golden Nugget on Fremont Street. A staff member offered to take a picture. He expected a tip.
On our recent trips to the pool tournaments at the Las Vegas Westgate, I haven't seen that old policy advertised. I suppose with the advent of picture-taking cell phones, prevention is pointless.

Obviously, a lot of us take photos of our jackpot hands. I recently posted 17 photos taken during a two week long stay in Reno- my trip report is on vpFree_Reno. I take my pictures with a digital pocket camera with the flash turned off because it's not needed and a flash would draw undo attention.
But, one time, late at night at Peppermill Reno, they had drawings for $50 freeplay on the half-hour and my name was called. Even tho the winner did not have to respond, the $50 was automagically added to your account, they further publicized the winner's name by flashing it on every reader board in the entire casino. I peeked up from my machine to see my full name displayed on dozens of displays throughout the casino. As late night players can attest, things get weird in the wee hours, and this was weird and wild to me at the time. I walked to a point looking over the table games to snap a shot of my name on a half dozen displays. I somehow had the flash enabled and it flashed. I scurried back to my machine, but apparently a couple security guys noticed the flash and came over to me and asked me to erase the picture. They watched over my shoulder as I fumbled my way thru the screens on my camera and hit "Erase? Yes." I'm pretty certain it was because I used the flash and got a pic of the table game area.

I visit 8-10 casinos each week. And yesterday I specifically looked at the many "notices" posted at the entrance of one.
It specified that photography of casino personnel or patrons was prohibited. I suspect this is why a shot of your own machine gets little attention. But taking a pic toward a bunch of people brings out the SWAT teams.

HSI is very strict about taking pics of jackpots....though I've done it many times before the slot attendant arrived. One time I hit on a slot machine, and tried to take the pic right away, but the slot attendant was very close and nearly had a fit. When I asked what the reasoning was, she stammered around a bit. Finally her response was that someone could study the picture of the machine and learn how to win. Sad but it was impossible not to laugh out loud.

I played 2 sessions in a day.
morning session I had $7500 coin in. saw $15 comps immediately in my acct.
evening session I put in $100 in $0.50 JoB before going to the comedy club.
lost that $100 pretty quickly. :(
I didn't check my acct while I was there.
I came home the next day and checked my acct online.
It still says $15 comps?
so it's not earn at least $5 comps per day, else you get $0, it's earn $5 comps per session?
that means pulling your card out to check your balance in another machine resets it back to $0 and you start all over again. :(
