I have always made the assumption that the results of all "promo" kiosk games, such as Mystery Free Play, Pick the Magic Balloon, Select the Winning Teddy Bear, or whatever a casino calls it, are in fact predetermined based on your play, tier status, or some other (unknown to me) criteria. I have never believed that it made a bit of difference which balloon or teddy bear I chose. Therefore, when factoring in the EV of any of these promos, I always assume that I will get the lowest available amount, and include that amount into the calculation.
If the EV of the lowest amount is not sufficient to make a trip a worthwhile investment when all other things are considered, then I don't make the trip. If I do consider it to be worthwhile, and I get some value other than the lowest amount available, I am pleasantly surprised.

time lost? The time was used whether one was at Sam's Town or elsewhere,

This is a gimmie. A freebie. A throw in. An extra. An added. Yes, let's get
the Gaming Board involved because the casino is giving something away to
us as a bonus that they do not have to but we don't like the form in which
this give us this bonus for free. Great idea. Brilliant. No wonder some
people kill many good opportunities with greed. No common sense.
