[vpFREE] Re: Gas-For-A-Year Experience Option - a summary report

Thanks so much to everyone who offered to help me understand this program. Joel Prickett was the first person who sent me his # so this report is from information I got from him. If any is incomplete or inaccurate, it is my fault not his. There were a lot of details for me to absorb since I hadn't joined the regular Fuel Rewards Network (FRN) program earlier. (These details I am giving are for the Gas-For-A-Year Option (2 credits) you can choose when you want/need to redeem 7* Experience credits – not for the regular program but I assume that works pretty much the same way.)

1. First you have to join the FRN program if you haven't before. You can do that online or (I think) at the players club at a CZR casino. We joined online.
2. Then they will send you a FRN card – maybe you can pick it up at the players card desk??? (We just joined so I'm not sure about these details – maybe at a Shell station?)
3. Then you have to find a participating Shell gas station – not all participate and there aren't Shell station everywhere. You can check online locations of participating stations anywhere in the country.
4. Then you are ready to pump the gas. You have to put in your FRN card AND a credit card or a Shell gift card to cover any little balances that might not be covered by this program. I guess it doesn't cover taxes – and those vary in different states.
5. Then here is where it gets sticky – to maximize the $4 a gallon benefit of this promo you must pump a full 20 gallons of gas whenever you pump. No matter the price of the gas, if you pump less that 20 gallons, you lose part of the benefit and it can't be used later. But for people whose car doesn't hold 20 gallons, here is what some people do. Fill your tank full and then have gas cans to collect the extra gallons to get up to the magic 20 gallons. Or, have two cars pull up together – pump one car to fill up – say 10 gallons. Then stop pumping but don't hang up the nozzle. Car one drives away and 2nd car pulls up and pumps until the total is now 20 gallons. (Or do the same thing with two cars parked on either side of one pump.)
6. The monthly limit in this Gas-for-a-Year option is $80 worth of gas. So if gas is $2 a gallon – twice a month you can do the 20-gallon fill-up. All in one vehicle or some other combo. 2 cars, both of which hold 20 gallons – you could do the 20-gallon fill up one right after another, just in two separate transactions.
7. The program loads up the $4-a-gallon benefit during the 3rd week of the month – and you have 30 days to use it. You can track your use online but I'm not sure how you do that – sometime you set up an account with a password. I need someone to explain this further.

I hope this information is correct. We haven't done this yet so I am depending on other people to explain how it works. Please comment on this thread if you have corrections or additional hints. For a household with one car with a small tank, you would have to be creative – or team up with a friend. However if you figure out how to pump 20 gallons at a time, it is a great benefit – $960 of free gas a year!!!!!
