We (my wife, adult daughter, and I) arrived in Vegas on the evening of Thursday, August 28, after an uneventful flight from Ohio. We met up with my son-in-law and another young couple at McCarran. The Bellagio limo (4 out of 5 Westies) was waiting as promised and took all six of us to MGM Grand.
My wife had a comped room at MGM that the young couple would occupy. I had comped rooms at Bellagio (for me and The Little Woman) and Caesars Palace (for our daughter and s-i-l). The limo driver was willing to wait at MGM while TLW got the young couple checked in and then take the remaining four of us to Bellagio. Unfortunately, the check-in line at MGM was very long and I didn't want the limo driver to wait an hour for us, so I abandoned my five companions at MGM and had the limo take me and our luggage to Bellagio. (There was a valid reason as to why my daughter and s-i-l also got off at MGM, but I won't go into it here).
Anyway, the limo zipped me up to Bellagio where I was met by a very nice and lovely young host as I exited the car. She took me into the VIP Services area and got me immediately checked in and provided with a couple of Mlife cards. They certainly employ beautiful, young women at the VIP Services desk, not that I noticed. Free coffee, juices, water, pastries. (Bellagio VIP Services--5 Westies).
My host escorted me on a quick tour of the casino (pointing out the High Limit room from a couple of different angles) and walked me over to the guest elevators. She gave me her card and said to call her with any questions or problems. Fortunately, everything went smoothly over the next several days, so I didn't need to contact her.(Bellagio host--5 Westies).
The room was a salon suite on the 15th floor. It was a very nice big room on a corner with two walls of glass. I guess it was on the back of the building, as we looked out on the mountains rather than the Bellagio fountains. The bathroom was also very large with a window wall above tub and a bidet in the water closet--both items generally absent in Ohio bathrooms, rubes we may be.
I cooled my heels in the room, playing with the power curtains controls until my wife, daughter, and s-i-l taxied up to Bellagio.
We walked over to CP and I got my daughter and s-i-l checked into a very nice room in the Augustus Tower looking down on MY Bellagio fountains. The CP room (4 Westies) was very nice and the view was great, but I have to give the nod to our Bellagio room (4.5 Westies). Both rooms lacked free in-room coffee, although at least the CP room had a Keurig coffee maker (K-cups not included).
My daughter enjoyed the free in-room movies and internet at CP (7 Star benefits--4 Westies) and they seemed to have better television channels than Bellagio. Bellagio TV is probably pretty good if you speak Japanese (2 Westies for Bellagio TV, not Japanese). LOTS of Japanese-language channels.
Seven Star check-in at CP was very good at the main front desk. (Never having been to CP before, I wasn't aware of the private 7 Star check-in room. Tomek seemed offended that I hadn't used the CP limo from the airport and insisted on scheduling a limo to take us back to McCarran on Sunday. (Mental note: Remember to cancel Bellagio limo to airport. As one of my buddies likes to say "First World Problems").
The four of us were very hungry and it was about 9:00 p.m. (midnight back in O-hi-o) so daughter, s-i-l, TLW, and I headed to Bellagio Cafe. As this is the 24 hour diner at Bellagio, I was expecting formica tables and lots of eggs. Wrong once again was I, although there were eggs available. A very upscale diner and not especially cheap.
(The young couple at MGM Grand were on their own for most of the trip, so they weren't with us until Saturday supper).
The s-i-l and I got bacon cheeseburgers and fries (4 Westies). My burger had excellent taste, but it was too big to eat without knife-and-forking it. Another FWP. (Most people who have seen me eat would be surprised that there is anything in the burger food group that won't fit easily into my maw). Daugher enjoyed Reuben (3.5 Westies) and TLW wolfed down a salmon burger (3 Westies). Three or four beers got us out of there for $105 not including tip.
Off to bed as our bodies still were on Ohio time of 1:30 a.m. We generally don't stuff ourselves in the wee hours and then go to bed, but hey--it's Vegas, Baby.
To be continued.
