Went today about 3 pm (Thursday). Absolutely no lines anywhere. The best place to park is to drive to the back (behind flamingo) and follow signs to Valet Park for Link. Signage is a little bad at the actual turnin, drive slowly and it is to the right of Linq Lane or whatever they are calling that road behind The Flamingo (used to be called Audrey). Then just a very short walk over to box office.
You go up elevator and u can stop and buy a overpriced drink or just go on up. You also will pass bathrooms so you can go before the ride.
They will slow the ride for handicapped and even stop for scooters and put a ramp so scooters or wheelchairs.
total reward members get a $2 discount, so show your card. If you earn 40000 points this year you can get a voucher for two people for day only, and turn in voucher at desk to get actual tickets which you can hand to anyone. It is unclear whether they will ask for ID as you turn in voucher or not, they seemed a little confused by voucher.
Ride is nice, perfect length of time. There are two small benches inside, so if it were crowded you might have trouble sitting, but many people would want to stand, ride is 1/2 hr long.
We had no one in car but our group of 4, some cars ran empty today.
The entryway to the pod is an accident waiting to happen, because door is narrow and they aren't too helpful at helping awkward people onboard. If you are slow, handicapped, have kids, have a baby stroller, ask them to slow the pod for boarding (and maybe getting off). The design of the entry is odd, with big gaps between pods, so they put a net in case anyone falls. It would be pretty bad if a child or adult fell though, I think. My guess is sooner or later some drunk will fall when ride is crowded (or someone awkward), or just someone who is with a bunch of people and trips. My friend with walker and me with cane did hop on without much difficulty, but I still say it is an accident waiting to happen. (No one has fallen yet).
One thing people have done though is ,.... MAke love in a pod. Call it the half mile hi club. (550 feet for the Roller). Since ride takes 1/2 hour, has benches, and sometimes things are slow, couples could well find themselves alone in the pod and the idea might (and has according to the employees) hit. There is a camera plus other pod riders might see u, but apparently that hasn't stopped people. (It crossed my mind and I'm an old married lady, so imagine how many younger folks are going to think of this...)
The music in the pods is a bit too loud, the tv screens with information (and jokes and such) is sometimes hard to see inside the pod and the info is mostly not necessary.
The view is good and we all enjoyed the ride. I think the view from Paris Eiffel Tower is a little better, not sure about the Stratosphere for comparison. I think the Eiffel Tower is cheaper, so if all you want is the view, do that instead. But riding the Roller is a fun experience. We did get the free ride, and it was definitely worth what we paid. I myself wouldn't pay more than about $15 for such a ride. The nighttime ride might be prettier, but I am guessing lines are longer and there might be more drunken type thrill seekers. Going in the daytime without any lines is an advantage to me.
Since the ride was so empty today, it does make me wonder if Caesars will end up sorry they paid so much for this attraction. They have a lot of personnel manning the booths and ride (including a security checkpoint where bags are perfunctorily searched), which costs money. But I have to assume weekends and nights are much busier.
