I would say yes contact them.
rapport building can go quite a ways towards making any break even decisions fall in your favor. I can guarantee you a hand written thank you note near the end of your stay will be very well received.

From my perspective, no need to contact the host unless there is a reason. They know when you are in the hotel and which machine you are playing so can easily find you in the casino -- some will stop by to say "hello" and see if you need anything.
