[vpFREE] RE: Newbie Strategy Questions

bob - Thanks for your input. I see how knowing a couple games could really be beneficial. I picked DW because the wild card for me made it a little more fun. Like you said, the basic strategy isnt that hard. The optimal strategy seems alot more complicated... My goal is to be able to play 100 hands without any mistakes. When I can do that ill reward myself by taking a trip to Vegas and play. I got some work to do... So far only have been able to get around 30 hands with no mistakes.

I will check out your suggestion for Dan Paymar. I currently do own WinPoker which I believe is from Bob Dancer. Really like the program alot! Also got it for my iphone which I play even more than the computer version.

Thanks Again!

Others have offered very valid reasons for the popularity of JoB and BP over Deuces. I play JoB often for those reasons. However, I really enjoy deuces wild and play that even more often than JoB (FP deuces or NSUD). The variance is higher than JoB, but not incredibly high (compared to things like DB, DDB, etc). Deuces strategy is a little more complicated to learn than JoB, but again, not excessively so. I like the higher EV, and frankly just find it more fun than JoB or BP. I'd suggest that you learn strategies for both. Depending on how well you are doing in mastering deuces, you might find it easier to master JoB first, then move to deuces. You might also find the strategy cards offered by Dan Paymar worthwhile - they are clearly presented and easy to use. and I suggest that you buy a software package (like Paymar's and/or Bob Dancer's) for practice at home if you haven't already done so.

Good luck and happy playing!
