One of my favorite spots to play used to be the Wildfire Group, including Barleys, the Bowling Alley across from Barleys, Wildfire Rancho, etc. They had a great setup at their bars, where there were eight vp games progressive that built simultaneously, and there were always some rather high jackpots.

At Wildfire Rancho, there is only one jackpot at the bar instead of eight, and it is always low, and the bartender told me that since they did that the place is frequently dead.

Just got in, it's 4:30 a.m. The weather is very nice right now in Vegas. Coming in on Boulder Hwy, got the window down, the music on, it's nice, real nice.
Checked the Wild West and the Wildfire Sunset, still have to check the Greens and Wildfire Boulder that used to be Magic Star. But the Wild West has one jackpot now for all games. Best game is 9-6-5 Double. It was at $1360 when I was there, and the bartender said it hit earlier at 1700 and re-set at 1300. I said, "Oh really? They have a backup?" He said he doesn't know and it always confuses him. I asked him what the players think of the new setup. He said they like it like this. Of course, these players are typically drunk, and half play keno, so I put a lot of stock in THAT poll.
Got to the Wildfire Sunset and it appears they still have it the old way, all eight games building simultaneously. Sure, paytables suck, but I don't remember what they were before. Best is 8-5 Double Double and it was at $2200. That was at least a pleasant surprise from all the 1000-1100s I've been seeing. I think 7-5 Bonus Poker Deluxe was about $1700. So apparently all these Wildfire joints still have a degree of independence. Still broken hearted about Barley's, though.
