I don't know what they are doing there with the remodeling -- the high roller area is now gone, with some of the machines sitting out in the area near Little Buddah, and some empty spots where machines were.
Gudarnos is now closed. Little Buddah to close in another week or so (note to Palms, why not stagger your remodeling? Nutty)
Palms buffet has added more selections, but quality remains the same as always, variable quality. Salad bar had no lettuce, just cheaper green stuff, whatever it is, plus premixed salads. Even spinach had dressing on it. Why not leave the greens undressed and let us put dressing on if we want it?
Thursday buffet line at 4 pm was huge because of senior 1/2 price discount. Being over 50 was good for a $4 movie ticket though, which was good. They also have some low cost senior tournaments and other benefits on Thursday.
Back to buffet -- Thursday beef tasted terrible, burnt. Dinner rolls fresh. Saturday beef was fine, dinner rolls stale. This is an example of what I mean by variable quality. Chicken was delicious both days, fried shrimp overlooked. Also no line on Saturday for dinner at 4 pm, which now was suppose to be a seafood buffet that costs more than sun-Thursday buffet, but I noticed hardly any difference in choices.
You'd think since Gudarnos is closed, the Mexican section of buffet would be bigger, but it remains the same. The taco bar has corn tacos only, why no flour tortillas? There seems to be a lot of Thai food now, added to the Chinese food. The Chinese food always seems pretty much the same, not too flavorful.
Wine is free for lunch and dinner which may make the buffet more palatable, and discounts are good, depending on your player card level. They have nice apples and bananas which is good, but no melons or fruit salad. Today there were strawberries too.
