When I attained Sapphire, it was listed on the card as good for one year.
I'm an out-of-towner, with only 1 or 2 visits per year.

From the BConnected website, it looks like:
0-25k for Ruby
25k-250k for Sapphire
250k+ for Emerald
Also looks like it says Six Month total's...
I'm HOPING it's six months...as I went and put in 12k at MSS and I'm going back next month to finish up gettign Sapphire...

When you make Sapphire or Emerald, how long do you stay at that tier level if you don’t keep playing or don’t play enough to keep your points at the initial requirement for that tier level. I’m trying to get information for out-of-towners who don’t get to Vegas very often.

I've read in club literature that you have 6 months to achieve a given tier status. 250K for emerald and 100K for sapphire. The rate at which you earn points does not appear to be standard at all Boyd properties.
