I became a smarter video poker player in the past few years by purchasing Winpoker and by listening to the pros. Much to my chagrin, it cost me $1,350 on a vp progressive at the Riviera. I was dealt an A of Diamonds and a 10 of Diamonds and of course I threw away the 10. What comes up but the King, Queen and Jack of diamonds. And I was without a Royal. Is there ever a time when you should keep an Ace and a Ten of the same suit?

When playing on a loss refund promo (which "JB" later writes he was playing), it makes sense to play harder for a "bankable" hit. So, in this case, suited AT was likely a viable hold.
Don't feel too bad. Assuming the RNG constantly cycles, the draw cards would be determined at the time of pressing the DRAW button and a different hold would likely result in a different draw result.
btw -- wife and I had decent luck with this Riviera promo 2 weeks ago. We opted for $1 BPD and both cashed out at our predetermined win threshold of $600 each.
