Re: [vpFREE] Planned Vegas Trip

Thanks for your reply!  I spent a few days in downtown Las Vegas in October, scouting and getting player cards.  I've been reading Jean Scott's book "More Frugal Gambling," especially regarding comps, rooms and food.  I kind of like downtown, because rooms are cheaper and hence easier for the beginner to get rooms.  Can you tell me what CET means?  I'm aware Main Street Station, California and Freemont are Boyd properties, and all downtown.  Aren't Gold Coast and Sun Coast also Boyd properties?  In your opinion, would you say all Boyd properties are good for comps?  That would simplify things.  There is some sort of relationship between Boyd comps, but I can figure those things out once I've selected a single destination casino for my first VP trip.

First do you have a player card anywhere? If so, contact them to see if you can get a comped room. I have found rooms easy to get for free at most places. CET is , in my opinion hard to get food comps, but you can use your reward credits to pay but they are very stingy with rc's when you play vp. I would suggest Gold Coast or Sun Coast as it is much easier getting food comped there.

Certainly I don't require an expensive room or 5-star dining! Maybe $5.98/night would be OK, as long as the dogs weren't too loud. Oh, and kibbles and bits are OK, too. In truth, as many casinos as there are in Las Vegas, I really do expect to find a single destination that I can start with, and I'd figure out improvements with time. I'd play slowly at first, but would practice a whole bunch before I go to Vegas. Game? I believe I'd like Jacks or better, or DDB... They have that at the Indian casino not far from my home.
