you certainly need software if you're going to get serious.

free VP software, primitive graphics but still the one I use most

i actually use the full (paid) version of Wolf, but there's not a huge
difference. VPW is prettier and has multiplay and bankroll analysis;
Frugal/Wolf has strategy analysis and practice features which VPW
lacks. and Frugal is, well, free. (OpVP is ... uh ... incomplete is
the most tactful word I can think of.)
