[vpFREE] XVP: But a Humorous Gambling Related Story Nonetheless

 

Among his other holdings, one of my 5th great grand uncles, Moses Duke, was the proprietor of Rice Creek Springs Resort in Richland County, South Carolina. In 1822 he petitioned authorities for permission to set up a billiard table at the resort. So far I haven't been able to determine whether he was granted or denied permission. But what I have found is 4 pages documenting the several meetings held by authorities as they pondered the question of whether or not to allow the billiard table.
